Jewellery: The latest rules adopted by Basketball Victoria for domestic competitions In general, flat wedding bands are all that can be worn without tape.
Eligibility: Players must play in 50% of games (not including Byes) to be eligible for finals. New players cannot be registered after round 17 without the consent of the committee. Non-attending
players are to be crossed off the score sheet at half time.(but can be reinstated if still arrive to play) Referees will monitor the validity of scoresheets. Unless marked as present, players that have not scored or fouled will not be listed as playing that game.Teams rorting the eligibility rule shall lose points for relevant games. Players first & Surname must be printed neatly.
Walkovers: Forfeit fee $80 (Un-notified) $70 (Notified) will be imposed and no Premiership Points awarded. If after 2 weeks the fine has not been paid, the team will be disqualified. If VBHBA are able
to get a replacement team of players from a lower grade then the game result (at the committee's discretion) shall stand and the non attending team will be charged a forfeit fee as above.
Disqualifications: A player playing in two games on the one night without the consent of the Executive Committee will cause that team to lose. Scores reversed if they win. 3 Forfeits may see team suspended.
Uniforms: All players should wear correct uniform (shorts and tops) Players with incorrect uniform may play with committee members permission. Uniforms can be hired or purchased at the office.
Scorebench: To ensure correct scoring, both teams are to supply a Scorer or Timekeeper. Commonsense should prevail in the event if a team has only 4 or 5 players and the other team has 6 or more. If 2 teams have 5 players 1 player from each team shall score.If both teams have 4 players 1 referee will score and 1 officiate. FREE PASSES ARE ISSUED TO NON PLAYING SCORERS.
Timing Regulations:
The clock does not stop during the first half except as in ( 3 ). There will be no time-out allowed in the last 3 minutes of the first half.
The clock will stop during the last 3 minutes of the second half for one time-out for each team, fouls, substitutions, and for special circumstances as in (3). The clock does not stop for violations during this period except as in ( 3 ).
The clock will stop throughout the game at the referee’s discretion for any abnormal circumstances, eg injury, blood rule, the ball irretrievable promptly etc. IT IS EACH TEAM’S RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE A COMPETENT SCORER/TIMEKEEPER.
NB. COMPLAINTS WILL NOT BE HEARD BY TEAMS THAT FAIL TO PROVIDE AN OFFICIAL SCORER OR TIME KEEPER FOR THE GAME.
REFEREES ARE TO GIVE A ONE-MINUTE WARNING PRIOR TO STARTING THE CLOCK TO COMMENCE THE GAME FOR EACH HALF.
Points for late start: The Association acknowledges the problem with car parking facilities at this stadium and have agreed to amend the number of minutes before a walkover is forced, from 10 to 15 minutes. One point per minute or part of a minute will be awarded against the late team. The score for a forced walkover will remain as 20 points to nil.
Grading: Teams are assessed on the strength of registrations submitted and their placing in the previous season. Where practical, the top team/s are promoted and the bottom team/s are relegated. For various reasons this is not always possible and the committee reserves the right to grade teams for the betterment of the competition.
Registration and Insurance: All players must register on vbhba.com website. Unregistered players will not be covered for insurance or be eligible to play finals.
All players are automatically affiliated with Basketball Victoria, Basketball Australia and covered with insurance by the BV nominated Insurer, providing, the player’s details have been registered on the VBHBA website. (Please check latest law re jewellery).
Uniform Hire: Uniforms are available from the Secretary’s office at the end of Court 7 @ $2 per item. In the case of a clash of uniforms, singlets at $10 per set teams to share the cost or take alternate turns of paying. It would be an advantage to have a both light and dark or reversible set of uniforms. New uniforms can be purchased for $35 per top.
Fixtures: The secretary will send fixtures to all clubs by email. Copies will also be placed on the notice board. It is each team secretary’s responsibility to contact the VBHBA if there is any doubt as to game times, players eligibility etc. TEAM CONTACTS MUST HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS AND CHECK IT REGULARLY AS ALL COMMUNICATIONS COME VIA EMAIL.
Officials: The VBHBA continues to create mutual respect between coaches, players and referees for the enjoyment of all. We urge all participants to join with us in this venture. Players that continually argue and remonstrate with officials will be asked to attend mediation sessions with a committee member and the referee’s Supervisor. The referees Supervisor can be contacted via the secretary’s office on the night to discuss any problems or complaints.
Discussions must be conducted in a cordial manner, so that the supervisor can assist in a positive way. A Best Referee’s Award will be made each season, and all teams are invited to vote at the end of each season. PLAYERS WISHING TO TAKE UP REFEREEING SHOULD CONTACT THE VBHBA OFFICE.
